Recent food recalls include pine nuts, fruit jelly and fetta cheese (25 May 2011)
The products are Ducks Pine Nuts imported from China which may contain glass fragments, Yummy Brand Mango Flavoured Fruit Jelly from Taiwan which contains glucomannan (konjac), a choking hazard, and Cottage Cheese Farm Full Cream Fetta (available only in Victoria) which may contain microbial contamination. Revised guidelines for overseas manufacturers (25 May 2011)
The 17th edition of the Guidance on the GMP clearance of overseas medicine manufacturers has been published and will be phased in over a 3 month period.
Response to food labelling recommendations due December this year (12 May 2011)
The independent review of food labelling law and policy was released in January this year.
Growing concern over caffeine-containing beverages (12 May 2011)
The Health Ministers of Australia and New Zealand have ordered a review of the policy guidelines relating to the addition of caffeine to foods.
Restriction on triclosan in cosmetics
